Objective

My objective is to gain working and technical experience in the textile and fashion industry working with designers and professionals. Specifically, I would like to learn about knitwear and knitwear designer's role within fashion houses and the design process from conception of an idea to production.

Technical Skills

Knitting: Proficient in machine knitting on single and double bed manual machines, industrial knitting machines, and programming computerized industrial knit pattern designs. Experienced in designing, drafting and constructing fully fashioned pieces and complicated knit patterns.

Print: Skilled in drawing patterns in repeat both by hand and computer, creating color ways, and printing with pigments, dye, heat transfer techniques as well as hand dyeing fabric.

Computer: Knowledge of Mac and PC platforms, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Ned Graphics, Design and Repeat Pro, and M1 Industrial Knit Program.

Personal: Hard working, detailed oriented, dedicated, reliable, works well with others. Spanish language skills. Organizational experience in an office: mailing, shipping, labeling, and client communication.

Work Experience

Textile Department at RISD. Providence, RI
Knitting Studio Monitor
Worked 12 hrs/week for 1 year. Responsibilities include monitoring students in the knitting studio, assisting with student questions and problem solving, cleaning & maintaining all knitting machinery.

Zegna Baruffa. Florence, Italy 2009
Freelance Knitwear Design
Designed and knit a fully fashioned women's wear piece for yarn manufacturer Zegna Baruffa. The playsuit was created to highlight their new winter yarn collection displaying the versatility and quality of their product.

Mischa Lampert. New York, NY Summer 2009
Production Assistant
Worked with a boutique accessory designer. Crocheted hats, scarves, and handbags. Assisted in updating contacts, maintaining source library, printing and mailing press packages, shipping, labeling, and organized the office and materials.

Jeffrey. Atlanta, GA. Summer 2008
Intern and Cashier
Assisted the sales associates with customers and other needs, stocked sales floor and prepared clothing for the floor, maintained jewelry inventory and catalog, assisted in making look books of store merchandise, prepared customer approvals, assisted with shipping, answered phones, and worked as a cashier.

Selected finalist for Elle Fashion Next Award. Original designs to be featured in a fashion show at the opening of New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. The selected work will also be featured in the October 2010 Anniversary Issue of ELLE and ELLE.com.
